Recipe remodel!

This is one of my favorite recipes for year-round chocolate satisfaction!  And there are very few ingredients, most of which are staples, that it's easy to throw together at the last minute. 

It only requires 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 tsp vanilla, 3 cups quick-cooking oats, 1 cup chocolate chips, and 1/2 cup peanut butter. 

Melt the butter in a saucepan then add the brown sugar and vanilla - mix well.  Add the oats and cook over heat for a few minutes.  Divide this mixture in half, placing one part in a greased 9x9 pan.  Melt the chocolate chips in a microwave safe dish and add the peanut butter - heat to make stirring easier.  After mixed well, pour the chocolate pb on top the oats, then crumble the remaining oat mixture on top.  Refrigerate for a couple hours and serve.  Yum!

I needed a large-ish box in which to put the goodie, so I used the tutorial from splitcoaststampers.com to create this one that will fit a 2 1/2 inch square.  It's so easy - just a bit of scoring and adhering, with some stamping (of course!) and it's done!  I used the new Botanical blooms and certainly celery twill ribbon available during Sale-a-bration paired with regal rose and our wide oval punch.

Time almost up!

We made this one for a retired class (the "love" sentiment is retired, but you could also use the Heard from the heart set too) and it's perfect for Valentine's Day!  We used chocolate chip for the card base, then regal rose and pretty in pink for the focal point .  As you know by now, I don't feel a project is finished if there's not any ribbon, so I had to add chocolate chip wide grosgrain ribbon to it.  I punched out some hearts and adhered them with stampin' dimensionals.

Little man

I just love this picture!  When we received it back from school, we couldn't believe how much Ben looked like a little man!  But rather than make it manly, I went for the tried and true primary color school theme.  The paper is some my sister had in her stash (except for the Summer sun base page) and I pulled out my crayon alphabet, one of my all-time favorite alphabet sets!  I added some riding hood red striped ribbon and night of navy narrow grosgrain ribbon.  I used my new Hello Kitty cartridge to create the apple and books - way easier than I had thought possible!

Have you kept up with your scrapbooking?  Do you have a plan?  Share it with me - I would like to finish ten pages a month, but it's hard to get time to do that so I'm looking to see how others fit it in.  I can use all the help I can get (I think last year I didn't even finish 40 pages!)

How did they do that???

The new catalog has so many new items - there's a brief page about the Decor Elements (Have you seen the new dinosaurs and princess pieces?).  There are several new themes (I like the new retro fresh line)  There's several pages dedicated to our new Big shot and dies (the texture plates look like fun!). 

But in order to keep the catalog the same size without having to charge more for printing, the recipes were taken out.  Like many of you, I sometimes need to refer to the supply list to find out how the image was colored, what stamps were used, or even what punch or ribbon finished off the project. 

The good thing is that Stampin' Up! has provided a list you can download and print for your own uses.  The Stampin' supplies list includes the recipes for all the projects shown in the catalog.

Sneak peek at Sale-a-bration!

Every time there is a new catalog or mini, Becky from MI hosts a swap where we all create a sample, send a specified number to her, then she mails back one from each participant.  For this swap, I've sent 15, Becky keeps one, and I get back 14 samples.  This one uses Botanical blooms, a simple and lovely set with, what else, flowers!  And it's FREE with a $50 purchase starting Feb. 1!  I case'd a card from a couple years ago when we made a technique page for heat embossing, changing up the colors a bit.  I used chocolate chip and pink pirouette cardstock and inks with a bit of clear embossing powder for some interest.  And of course I had to use some ribbon - this time it's chocolate chip wide grosgrain.  This card would be good for Valentine's, anniversary, birthday...

Trains, planes, and automobiles

Boys just love this kind of stuff, and I love blue and orange together for a boy. This page actually has very little Stampin' Up! product on it, though it would be easy to substitute various printed and solid papers.  The number "4" is from our On Board chipboard series, but the rest is pretty much a paper pack from JoAnn's.  Again, I inked the number with pumpkin pie craft ink, then embossed with clear embossing powder.  Very simple and quick to create using another Becky Fleck sketch. 

I know I used the chipboard technique quite a bit (there's another one coming!) because it was new and fun.  Have you found any new techniques or even old favorites you see yourself reaching for again and again?   I'd love to hear them so your favorites can become my favorites!

Another girlie page

I had spent so much time on masculine pages over my get-away weekend that I did two quick girl pages on Sunday - I just needed some pink!  So I pulled out some papers from Hobby Lobby and used some flowers from Oriental Trading Company after finding a layout I liked in Becky Fleck's PageMaps.  I used our On Board lots of letters chipboard for the title - inked it in basic black ink, then covered with versamark and clear embossing powder.  The arc in the bottom right corner was made using the coluzzle, while the two in the top left were made using a saucer from our room!

The journaling says, "After the smirk of the fall picture, we reminded Grace to smile.  Definitely an improvement but we'll keep working on it!"

Scrappin' my girl...

Last weekend, after scrapping boy stuff for so long, I had to take a break and scrap my daughter - you know, get out the flowers, pinks and purples, all that girlie stuff!  I found this layout in Becky Fleck's Page Maps (one of my favorite scrapping tools) and simply adjusted it to my stuff.  Most of this is not SU, but I did create the polka dot paper to coordinate with the prints I had using a retired wheel and used our So saffron and Lavendar lace cardstock.  Then I used our scallop edge punch to add a little interest.  I used a rub-on for the center of the flower. 

Very simple, but I just love the colors - so girlie!

The new Spring/Summer catalog is now available and live for ordering!  You can see it at my business website by clicking "shop now."  It's really beautiful and I can't wait to get my hands on some of the new buttons, ribbons, sticky cuts, papers, and, of course, stamps!  There is a new wheel that is just awesome - it alternates purses and shoes!  That'll be great for all things girlie!
