Scrapbookin' on Saturday - vroom vroom

I can't believe this, but this page came together in 15 minutes!  I created it with an hour to spare before we had to leave, and when I checked the clock, it had gone faster than I expected! 

I started with a background of riding hood red because it was similar to the color of his shirt and in the Washington Apple Designer Series papers I used.  I used the circles, made with my 1-3/8, 1 and 1/2 inch circle punches to pull in the wheels on the page (I should have used the truck from Loads of Love, but oh, well!).  The silver brads are for the axles, but are just fun too!  And the title, using our Typeset alphabet, is stamped in whisper white craft ink.

Party for the grad

My sister graduated college this past weekend and wanted to create her cards for her party.  Thankfully, we didn't have to use school colors!  She pulled the colors from my stash of scraps, and reminded me that she wanted the card similar to the graduation announcement sample (which you can see here).  She also wanted to use the Flower burst embosslit, so I set to work!

The base is brilliant blue cardstock, scored at 5-1/2 and 9-1/4 inches.  I used our corner rounder punch to soften the corners, and added a glorious green cardstock band.  The flower burst embosslit is in yoyo yellow with a brilliant blue brad in the center. 

I used our Hugs & Wishes stamp set for the information in brilliant blue, but I don't think I will do that for all forty of them!

You have to tell me what you think!  I didn't care for the color scheme, but she seems to love it!  Maybe it's just me!  I do think the card would be great in other colors, maybe with a bit of Designer Series papers!

Designer series card

This one is so easy, and I love to use my Designer Series papers on cards!  There's just something about a print that can pull a card together.

This card uses our Raspberry Tart Designer Series paper on a rose red cardstock base.  I embossed the little piece of pretty in pink cardstock with our texturz dies and taped down the pretty in pink striped ribbon before adhering to the card.  The sentiment is from So Scallops in rose red ink on whisper white cardstock, then punched it out with our scallop square punch. 

This card was so easy - I can't wait to make more using our other Designer Series papers, which, not so coincidentally, are still on special!  Make sure to pick your four (one is free!) before the end of the month!

Stampin' Up! now on YouTube!

Stampin' Up! has joined the social networking world by utilizing the YouTube world!  You can view several videos there, but start with this one:

This is a great introduction to the CEO and Co-founder of Stampin' Up!, Shelli Gardner.  There's also some footage about the shipping process - it's interesting to see how it gets from SU HQ to you - and some background to the company (and some things I didn't even know!).  I will share more videos as they are released, so check back often, or simply use the "sign up" box on the right column so you'll always know when new content has been added.

1. Adhere Certainly Celery textured card stock to Baja Breeze textured card stock. Adhere photo to Certainly Celery textured card stock. Adhere strip of Designer Series paper to side of photo.
2. Adhere strip of So Saffron textured card stock below photo. Adhere strip of Designer Series paper above So Saffron textured card stock. Tie Apricot Appeal ribbon around page.
3. Adhere "Hi" die cut to page. Adhere small flower above "i."
4. Adhere "Friend" die cut to page using Stampin' Dimensionals.
5. Adhere flower stem die cut to page using Stampin' Dimensionals. Adhere flower die cut to page; layer second flower die cut to first flower. Thread crochet thread through button and tie, then adhere button to flower center.
6. Journal with Stampin'  Write marker.

This page would be easy to adapt to a 12x12 layout - you could either keep the center frame the same size, with a bit more white space around the edges, or make a larger center frame with a picture or two more.

Happy Memorial Day!

Did you know that the first Memorial Day was in 1868, dedicated to honoring the lives of Union soldiers who died trying to restore the country?  It's funny how that day seems to have become the unofficial start of the summer season - bar-b-quing, swimming, picnics, etc. 

If you are like me, you'll be spending time with family, enjoying their company, catching up on their lives, and kicking the summer off in style.  I hope you will also take time, even if just a moment of silence, to thank all those who have died in their efforts to save our freedom.  Go, America!

Scrapbookin' on Saturday - all boy

When I checked my scrapbooks I noticed that my middle child had significantly fewer pages than either of my other two.  I have set out to rectify that, which means that for a while you will see quite a few more boyish pages.  So pull out your blues, reds, greens, and let's do some boy stuff!

This page was another case - I loved the simplicity, but realized after I'd finished it that I hadn't stamped a thing!  I used our Simple Serif Die for the letters.  I cut three of each letter from night of navy cardstock (same as the background) and layered them to create a faux chipboard look.  I also used Riding Hood Red Patterns Designer Series papers to pull the color of Ben's shirt.  Although this was taken on Valentine's Day, I didn't go with that color scheme because he was definitely being "all boy!" 

When I attached the riding hood red striped ribbon, I kept the angled cut for some interest.  And the tearing helped to make the page a bit more masculine.  All in all, a fast boy page!

Grace has had the best year yet - no crying to go to school, no teacher/student/parent conferences, pretty great grades.  So she decided on her own that she wanted to give her teacher a necklace she had made.  So I took out my beads and let her decide what she wanted to do.  Of course, she picked pink, but I really love the way she laid out the beads!

Then, of course, such a fancy gift had to have the perfect package!  I found this little box on my shelves upstairs (waiting to be recycled) and thought it would be perfect for this gift!  I covered the top in Tea Party designer series papers and added the sentiment from Oval All stamp set, stamped in basic gray on whisper white cardstock, then on almost amethyst and punched with our scallop oval and large oval punches.  This was attached using our dimensionals.  Then I added a cherry blossom embosslit flower to the front on top of certainly celery wide grosgrain ribbon.  Grace loved it!

Isn't it neat to repurpose things around the house?  I'd love to hear the strangest thing you've used to create something...maybe even the kitchen sink???

Monday's Memories

I showed you a mini sample of this month's project for my Projects by Parcel Post kit.  For this month's scrapbooking class, we will use standard sized card envelopes to create a scrapbook perfect for a gift, or a purse or diaper bag (wouldn't the kids - or pets! - look perfect in one of these?). 

My sample uses our Tea Party Designer Series papers, and our Cherry blossom embosslit.  Each envelope has an insert in coordinating colors (almost amethyst, pretty in pink, and so saffron) for pictures or journaling.

This class will be on Tuesday, May 26 (pushed off a day due to Memorial Day) at 6:30 pm. The cost will be $25 to create two envelope scrapbooks (the printed papers will be my choice, but please give me your requests, which will be accommodated as supplies allow) and you can sign up below.  Make sure to reserve your space right away!
