I so loved the swap card I made a few days ago that I made another one for a "thank you" I needed to send.  I changed up some things but I think you'll definitely see the resemblance! 

 

I used a pale plum and perfect plum color scheme with our Kind Thoughts stencil.  The fold is embellished with elegant eggplant grosgrain ribbon.  I turned the card 90 degrees this time so had more space for the sentiment, again with our new Modern label and word window punches. 

So what do you think?  Which one do you like?  I think I like the tall card, but they are both beautiful and easy!

Happy Birthday, Spencer!

You don't know Spencer Willis (you can see him creating a very pretty frame here), but he is a very helpful guy at the Stampin' Up! home office (I hear he's a demonstrator too!).  He's done workshops at various SU events and, since he's on both sides of the company (employee and demo) he knows his stuff!  So why am I telling you this?

Because when the home office celebrated his birthday recently, they didn't just lay out the goodies - they stamped them up!  Actually, they used pieces from the Country Living Summer Cookout Kit to make it a bit more special (do you see that the goodies are sitting on a filing cabinet?).  Now who wouldn't feel special with this kind of treatment???

How are stencils and stamps the same?

No, it's not a joke - there is a similarity, and it's one of the reasons I love to use stamps instead of stickers!  They both last forever!  You can use your stickers just once, but my stamps and stencils I can use over and over!

I used my Kind Thoughts stencil, again, to create this simple but elegant card!  I am always amazed at how, when you remove the stencil, there's a beautiful image to behold!  (I know it's supposed to work that way, but it seems like magic to me - just call me easily amused!)  I used a kraft cardstock for the base and chocolate chip for the new modern label punch.  The sentiment from Teeny tiny wishes, stamped in chocolate chip ink, was punched with our word window punch and then popped up with stampin' dimensionals.  I applied the ink on the stencil with our sponge daubers - so easy!  And yes, there's ribbon: chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon knotted along the edge - it wouldn't be complete without it!

I have some ideas for other applications for my stencil.  So far I've stenciled scrapbook pages and cards, soon I'll move onto canvases and bags!  Wish me luck!

Look what you missed!

So you already saw the first three cards we did this past Friday for Christmas in July.  I thought I'd show you the last two we did! 

 

I have had these scallop circles left over for ages from this project, and thought they'd make great ornament fronts for a card!  I stamped them with the flourish from Baroque Motifs in versamark, then embossed in silver.  I added the top using our rounded tab punch in brushed silver cardstock, and added the bit of bashful blue taffeta ribbon, really because it's pretty!  The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations (did you know demonstrators received this a couple years ago for Christmas?) and punched with our wide oval punch in night of navy ink.  The cardfront is always artichoke and was embossed with our texturz plates (going for a faux tree look!).  Can't really decide what I think...

 

Another not-so-traditional card, I used bashful blue and chocolate chip with snowflakes from Best Wishes & More and Short & Sweet stamp sets.  I stamped the large snowflakes in versamark and then both in whisper white ink.  The sentiment is from All Holidays (I used our chocolate chip marker so I would only get "Peace") and punched with our Designer label punch.  This is probably one of my favorites!

Scrapbookin' on Saturday - gone buggy

So I received some new stamp sets and couldn't wait to play!  So I did what I usually do and found pictures that went with Bugs & Kisses!  It's okay to start with the stamp set, right?

We live in a subdivision, but have a creek right behind our house, and then lots of common ground, so we see lots of characters.  We found this little praying mantis and Ben was having a blast watching and holding it.  Andrew was two at the time, so we gave him a chance, but...what you don't see is that right after the last picture was taken, he smacked his little hand on top of the guy, and, well, that was the end of play time with the mantis (amazingly, the little guy made it so Ben had him back!).  I used pumpkin pie, bashful blue, green galore, brilliant blue and going gray inks, and stamped off the images (stamped on scrap paper then on my journaling block) so they wouldn't be so strong.  The bottom strip of bugs was done with versamark.

 

I ran the solid piece of brilliant blue through my Big Shot using the texturz plates with simply dots.  The little ant for the title was punched with the 3/4 inch circle, then the 1 inch circle for the mat in brilliant blue.  I also used my craft ink in brilliant blue for the title - I love how the color stays rich and strong!

I think I'm just about ready for some girl pages...all that testosterone comes through the paper (and pictures) and wears me out!  Or maybe it's just reliving those crazy days when they were little!

Stampin' Up! goes robotic!

With this new catalog, Stampin' Up! included robots, and I love them because when I showed my kids the samples, they jumped right in talking like robots (they had a little coaching from Telly, Elmo and Rosita on an episode of Sesame Street!).  When you look at these, I'm sure you can just hear it!

 

This one by Anna pairs the new Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry with basic gray.  She also made it a 4x4 card, rather than the standard size.  I love how she included the binary code stamp with the word window punch!  (Can't you just hear my kids saying the sentiment?!?)

 

Can you just guess what I love about this one?  It's pink!!!  Who would have thought these little robots would have looked so cute in regal rose and melon mambo?  Annie used our Tea Party Designer Series papers and added the hearts from our Heart to heart punch.  Very pretty in pink, don't ya think?

While the Country Living Summer Cookout Kit comes with directions and ideas, there are so many other ways to use it!  How about a festive way to present silverware?  It's easy and the directions follow.

Flatware Wrap Stamps Country Living Summer Cookout Kit Confetti White card stock Ink Night of Navy Stampin' Spot (included in kit) Real Red Stampin' Spot (included in kit) Accessories Linen thread Silver brad Hole punch Decorative toothpick Wrapped moist towelette Instructions Fold coaster in half. Punch holes through right edge using hole punch. Stamp checkered image in Real Red ink on top and bottom of Confetti White card stock. Stamp "Dig in" in Night of Navy ink in center of Confetti White card stock (1-5/8" x 1-5/8"). Punch one hole through top and two holes through left side. Thread toothpick through holes on left side. Christmas in July!

So here's three of the five cards we are doing for my Christmas in July class.  This will be Friday, June 24 at my home in Troy, MO at 6:30 pm.  These are not Hallmark cards -they are so much better!!!

You know that new Rich Razzleberry paper and ink was just waiting to be used, and I was going to find a way to use it for the holidays one way or another!  For this holiday card, I teamed the new In Color with Not quite navy for a not-so-traditional holiday card.  I used Season of simple grace for the images - I'm so glad that one made it into the new catalog!

Another color calling my name, Melon Mambo, just had to be a holiday color too!  It's a little non-traditional, but that's actually just called original, now, right?  I used Snow swirled and pulled in the new Crushed Curry with Old Olive. 

Do you ever purchase something for your scrapbooking that you don't think you'll actually use much, but then end up using a bunch, and not even having to force yourself to pull it out???  Well, that's what has happened with this stencil, Kind Thoughts.  I used Bashful blue and brocade blue with sponge daubers to create a simple, stylish, sophisticated cared (if I say so myself!).  The brad is from our Ice circle rhinestone brads - I love those for some easy bling!
