It wasn't quite right!

A few days ago I posted the card for the Fire house vendor fair, but, after seeing them online, started thinking about the Delightful decorations card.  I didn't care for it much, and didn't know what the problem was, so I kept the same idea, but changed the colors.

So I changed the background from always artichoke to kraft cardstock, but kept the branches (actually the pine tree from Lovely as a tree) in the same green.  The ornament was stamped in brocade blue on bashful blue cardstock, then punched out with the new ornament punch.  

Which one do you like better?  I wonder if how it would look if I switched out the ruby red ornament on the original if I'd like it better.  Or how it would look with a elegant eggplant or rich razzleberry ornament.  Hmmmm, might need to play some more...

Scrapbookin' on Saturday - gone buggy

Oops!  I already used this title!  You can see the page I did for my youngest, Andrew, here.  I think it was even the same day!  I guess that's what happens when you have a fitting title!

Grace has no fear with bugs or frogs - just in case she turns girly on me as she gets older, I want to document these things now!  I pulled out my favorite kids stamp set, Bugs & kisses for this one with our Just perfect alphabet stamp set.  Since I used a colored cardstock (green galore), I made sure my stamps would show up by using our craft inks in green galore, orchid opulence, tempting turquoise, and yoyo yellow. 

I love our colored brads in tempting turquoise, so added a bit of interest by using three of those in a row, perfectly spaced using our piercer and mat pack. 

I've been doing these weekly pages for a few months now, and I can actually see space in my photo  box!  Make a goal of just one page or layout a week, and you'll see the benefits fast too!

How lucky am I!

No, it's not St. Patrick's Day, but I'm feeling lucky!  When I opened my email this morning, I found an email from my up-up-up-upline, Connie Heisey (did you know we can earn downline income for up to five levels?).  She sends out invitations ever so often for stamping occasions at her house, but unfortunately, she lives in Pennsylvania!  Maybe one of these days I'll get out that way, but for now, it's nice that she includes me and sends me great ideas, like the one below.

Isn't it just adorable???  I also get emails from Janet Wakeland, my up-up-upline, who loves purple almost as much as I do!  I love getting emails from her as well because she sends LOTS of ideas!  Her last email focused on our Night and Day Designer series paper in our Holiday mini brochure. 

This one is great too!  Rather than leave it black and white, Janet took pumpkin pie ink to it and changed it to reflect the season!  Spooky! 

If you are thinking about joining, you'll want an organization that is growing, and one that has lots of support!  I know that I can contact at least four levels up and get great tips, support, advice, and more!  If you'd like to be part of a great company and even better upline, contact me for more information!

Make your child the envy of all others!

Have you sent a card with your child's lunchbox?  Has that child complained that it wasn't all that great, or not as good as Sally's or Joe's?  Probably not, but you can avoid this situation easily!  Check out this Stampin' Up! video:

Isn't that the best? While I know kids would love whatever you created for them, there is that little motivation to do it great! If you would like to join us at convention next year, you have to be a demonstrator, but that is easy to do!  Send me an email with your address and I'll get information to you.  Trust me, it's one of the best decisions you can make for yourself, and your kids!

Got a burning need to shop?

I wanted to play with my new set, Delightful decorations, since this was perfect for a holiday shopping extravaganza!  I was going for the Christmas tree look - I know, probably a little cliche, but fun!  I used the pine tree from Lovely as a tree for the branches in always artichoke.  If I can find some small tree hangers, I might add it to the card, but the white pen will have to do for now!

Happy Fall, y'all!

I lived in South Carolina for several years during late elementary school, and picked up the southern twang and use of "y'all".  I lost it soon after we moved back to Missouri before 7th grade, thank goodness - it just sounds funny to say it now!  But I had to use it in today's title because it just goes together so well, and while we are on the subject of fall, I wanted to share a couple swaps I'd received with a fall theme.

This card uses the image from Gifts of the Earth and Autumn meadows Designer series paper from our Holiday mini catalog and Wood grain background stamp from the big catalog.  It's such a nice Thanksgiving card - I'm tempted to create some of those to send out.  I'm sure that will depend on time, but wouldn't it be nice to receive one of these?

I really love this one by Mary Swan.  She paired Autumn Days from our big catalog with our new crushed curry.  She also changed the color of the brads from bashful blue to whisper white simply with embossing powder (can you believe she made thirty-five of these???).

I hope these ideas have helped get you into the mood for falling leaves, warm pumpkin pie, and cooler days.  And just maybe these ideas might get you stampin' too!

The back-up plan

I really enjoyed the Zonta event Thursday night - the group is friendly and dedicated and eager to help!  It was also nice to spend an evening with adult conversation, especially when talking stamping!  However, it would have gone much better if I had remembered my stamping wheel!  I had planned two cards (you can see my favorite here), but after realizing that I'd forgotten the wheel, I was glad I had a second option.

This was my first design - I used the flourish from Baroque motifs with basic gray ink on basic gray cardstock, then popped out the flower burst embosslit with crushed curry.  A simple silver brad in the center finishes it off.  Very simple, and this color combination has been one of my recent favorites.

I wanted to offer another option using the Big Shot embosslits, so I cut one of the cherry blossoms out in regal rose and created the same card.  I like this one a lot too, but I can't decide!  Which one is your favorite?

Scrapbookin' on Saturday - my digital studio

I have to start by apologizing - this has been a rough week with two events back to back and a nasty cold on top of it all.  So I hang my head to say that I didn't make it to the scrapbook page.  I thought instead, to give you your fix, that I'd share some great projects with our new My Digital Studio, that will be available Oct. 1! 

There are so many projects you can create using this software, hence the name. 

As you can see, calendars are one such project, and of course, the pages look great in a scrapbook when the year is over!

Isn't this a cute one?  One thing I love about this software is that pictures can be manipulated larger or smaller as desired!  You can move them about and center them and put them right into a created page or you can start from scratch!  Even better, it has all our colors, stamp images (some retired), and accesories so you can create quickly!

This is a card made using the same software using our stamps in digital form!  You can read more about the release here as posted on this news site.  I can see lots of possibilities, but I don't know what I would do first?  How about you?
