Tonight is my Open House and I am so excited about the projects!  You can see the first two samples here, and I have the last three below.  They use some great new stamp sets and accessories, as promised!

 

This one uses our Animal Stories stamp set, a new one that is part of this month's Just for Kids promotion.  I also used the Tall Tales designer series paper that coordinates - this would be a good child card, or for someone who likes elephants, or for someone who is forgetful (you know, elephants never forget!).  I applied ink to the bottom with plastic wrap - how easy is that?

This next one uses our Vintage Ornaments #1 Decor Stencil.  Notice how it's not a Christmas card, but wouldn't it be nice with holiday colors and an ornament?  I used our texturz dies on the not quite navy, and Stampin' Write markers for the sentiment from Thank you kindly.  

This last one features a hostess level 2 stamp set, Asian Artistry.  I punched a 1 3/4 inch circle from melon mambo, then removed a bit with our 1 inch circle punch.  The stamp is embossed in gold and then colored with inks and a blender pen.  It's an easy card with a bit of bling!

Ink-tastic swaps

Some swaps I can make and remain relatively ink-free, but this one has ink on every fingertip on both hands!  How, you might ask?  I was using our new Vintage Ornaments Decor Stencils and applying ink with sponges, which, naturally, found its way to my fingers!  Oh well, if your hands aren't ink stained, you haven't had fun!

 

I applied night of navy ink to the body of the ornament, and versamark to the hanger at top and the flourish.  I poured iridescent ice embossing powder to the last two areas and heated to get a subtle bling!  The bashful blue grosgrain ribbon is attached with a glue dot in the center of the "hanger."  Finally, the sentiment is from Teeny tiny wishes on bashful blue in night of navy ink and punched from word window matted on brocade blue punched from modern label punch.  I made 36 for this swap, and I can't wait to see what I get back!

Happy birthday to my Aunt

My aunt's birthday came up, and as usual, I was late.  I have a birthday reminder (can't remember the website) that sends me an email when holidays and birthdays come up.  Of course I knew with plenty of time, but couldn't seem to come up with the perfect card, so I finally mailed it on her birthday, but it's the thought that counts, right?  And when you get cards after your birthday, it's like your birthday keeps going and going!

 

I used a stencil from our new Vintage Ornaments #1 in our Decor Stencils line.  I love that I can use this set (which comes with four separate stencils) for the holidays, then use the flourishes for other events and holidays.  I know my aunt likes angels, so I chose a soft color scheme using pretty in pink, regal rose, and chocolate chip.  I had to add ribbon, so included a bit of chocolate chip taffeta ribbon.  The sentiment is from Sincere Salutations in the large oval punch with a chocolate chip scallop punch layered underneath.

Wow Wednesday - sponged stencil, faux seersucker, marker misting

One of this month's Wow Wednesday techniques follows up on last month's with another stencil technique, sponged stencils.  While you will recognize the Kind Thoughts stencil used for the card, I finally have different one to share for the technique page, but you'll have to come to the class to play with it!  For the card,I just had to use our new Melon Mambo, and teamed it up with tempting turquoise and chocolate chip.  And this technique only requires a stencil and a sponge or sponge dauber.  Simple card, but I just love that stencil! 

The next technique, faux seersucker, is an easy on as well!  All you really need for that one is a crimper and some cardstock!  I pulled out one of my new favorite combinations, not quite navy and rich razzleberry, paired with certainly celery, for a regal card.  And I loved playing with Fifth Avenue Floral - what a great stamp set! 

 

Finally, we'll be marker misting for another simple technique!  The Upsy daisy stamp set was perfect for this - I love the variation in the color.  Can you tell where I got a little happy with the mister?  I paired pretty in pink with rose red for a greater variation between the pinks.

I so loved the swap card I made a few days ago that I made another one for a "thank you" I needed to send.  I changed up some things but I think you'll definitely see the resemblance! 

 

I used a pale plum and perfect plum color scheme with our Kind Thoughts stencil.  The fold is embellished with elegant eggplant grosgrain ribbon.  I turned the card 90 degrees this time so had more space for the sentiment, again with our new Modern label and word window punches. 

So what do you think?  Which one do you like?  I think I like the tall card, but they are both beautiful and easy!

How are stencils and stamps the same?

No, it's not a joke - there is a similarity, and it's one of the reasons I love to use stamps instead of stickers!  They both last forever!  You can use your stickers just once, but my stamps and stencils I can use over and over!

I used my Kind Thoughts stencil, again, to create this simple but elegant card!  I am always amazed at how, when you remove the stencil, there's a beautiful image to behold!  (I know it's supposed to work that way, but it seems like magic to me - just call me easily amused!)  I used a kraft cardstock for the base and chocolate chip for the new modern label punch.  The sentiment from Teeny tiny wishes, stamped in chocolate chip ink, was punched with our word window punch and then popped up with stampin' dimensionals.  I applied the ink on the stencil with our sponge daubers - so easy!  And yes, there's ribbon: chocolate chip grosgrain ribbon knotted along the edge - it wouldn't be complete without it!

I have some ideas for other applications for my stencil.  So far I've stenciled scrapbook pages and cards, soon I'll move onto canvases and bags!  Wish me luck!
