Shoebox Stampers

Happy Fall, y'all!

I lived in South Carolina for several years during late elementary school, and picked up the southern twang and use of "y'all".  I lost it soon after we moved back to Missouri before 7th grade, thank goodness - it just sounds funny to say it now!  But I had to use it in today's title because it just goes together so well, and while we are on the subject of fall, I wanted to share a couple swaps I'd received with a fall theme.

This card uses the image from Gifts of the Earth and Autumn meadows Designer series paper from our Holiday mini catalog and Wood grain background stamp from the big catalog.  It's such a nice Thanksgiving card - I'm tempted to create some of those to send out.  I'm sure that will depend on time, but wouldn't it be nice to receive one of these?

I really love this one by Mary Swan.  She paired Autumn Days from our big catalog with our new crushed curry.  She also changed the color of the brads from bashful blue to whisper white simply with embossing powder (can you believe she made thirty-five of these???).

I hope these ideas have helped get you into the mood for falling leaves, warm pumpkin pie, and cooler days.  And just maybe these ideas might get you stampin' too!

Flutteringly beautiful!

One of my favorite things about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator is participating in swaps!  I love receiving them in the mail and checking out what everyone else has made, and the group I am in with Becky is just amazing!  So when I received this one, I knew I needed to share it with you!

 

This card uses our new Medallion stamp, our number one selling stamp from this catalog!  I can't wait to play with mine, but until then...It was embossed in black and a bit of bling was added around the center with dazzling diamonds glitter. 

 

I wanted to show you the butterfly close up.  It was stamped originally, then stamped again on scrap and cut out.  A thin layer of crystal effects was applied after adding color to make it shiny, and stampin' dimensionals pop up the wings for added interest.

Ink-tastic swaps

Some swaps I can make and remain relatively ink-free, but this one has ink on every fingertip on both hands!  How, you might ask?  I was using our new Vintage Ornaments Decor Stencils and applying ink with sponges, which, naturally, found its way to my fingers!  Oh well, if your hands aren't ink stained, you haven't had fun!

 

I applied night of navy ink to the body of the ornament, and versamark to the hanger at top and the flourish.  I poured iridescent ice embossing powder to the last two areas and heated to get a subtle bling!  The bashful blue grosgrain ribbon is attached with a glue dot in the center of the "hanger."  Finally, the sentiment is from Teeny tiny wishes on bashful blue in night of navy ink and punched from word window matted on brocade blue punched from modern label punch.  I made 36 for this swap, and I can't wait to see what I get back!

Wouldn't this be great with a snowflake in the center of the ornament?  Or maybe a nativity scene, like the one from Season of Simple Grace?  If you'd like more ideas for holiday cards, keep checking back or get email updates by using my feedblitz box on the left column.  There's sure to be many more coming!

Super swaps!

I've told you about Becky in MI who hosts swaps every time there is a new mini catalog or big book.  I just received my Sale-a-bration swaps yesterday, and there are some great ideas!  I thought I'd share a couple with you!

This one is by Kathy Shifflet out of Kentucky.

This one is by Justina Bass - I think she's been doing these swaps as long as I have!

I love this one by Heather Savageaux - it has a vellum overlay, just like a fancy store card, but SO much better!

This is the coolest idea by Shannon Roberts - I would love of bowl of this!

And Stephanie Flath, another long-time swapper, embossed the stars and used the SAB Designer Series paper. 

Ms. Valdivia (I hope I have the name right) made this mini book using our Top note die and the Yummy SAB stamp set. 

Suzanne Rhyne created this one, pairing one of our new embosslits and our old Top Note die.

Sneak peek at Sale-a-bration!

Every time there is a new catalog or mini, Becky from MI hosts a swap where we all create a sample, send a specified number to her, then she mails back one from each participant.  For this swap, I've sent 15, Becky keeps one, and I get back 14 samples.  This one uses Botanical blooms, a simple and lovely set with, what else, flowers!  And it's FREE with a $50 purchase starting Feb. 1!  I case'd a card from a couple years ago when we made a technique page for heat embossing, changing up the colors a bit.  I used chocolate chip and pink pirouette cardstock and inks with a bit of clear embossing powder for some interest.  And of course I had to use some ribbon - this time it's chocolate chip wide grosgrain.  This card would be good for Valentine's, anniversary, birthday...

New catalog sneak peek!

My friend Becky in MI hosts a swap every time there is a new catalog or mini catalog.  I really look forward to these because I get great ideas to pass on to you!  So I used our new Level 2 hostess set called Echoes of Kindness to create another lovely card.  (Can you tell I've now seen the Twilight movie too!!!)

I had to use my favorite color combination for cards from the heart so I pulled chocolate chip, regal rose and pretty in pink cardstock and inks.  I stamped my favorite background, En francais, with pretty in pink ink on pretty in pink cardstock.  After stamping the image in chocolate chip ink on whisper white cardstock, I added color with a blender pen and the regal rose and pretty in pink ink pads.  Then I used my 2-way glue pen to add some Dazzling diamonds glitter to the image. 

Does that get you excited about the new catalog?  If you like game night, you're going to love what's coming!  If you love hardware, you're going to love what's coming!  If you love stamps, you're going to love what's coming!  It's hard to wait!

Valentine's Already???

I know, I know, what right do I have to bring up the NEXT holiday, when you are still recovering from Christmas and all its exhaustion???  If you are like me and have had a rough month, it's probably because you, like me, had lots of creative things to do and you LEFT IT TO THE LAST MINUTE!!!  So I thought why not work early, especially since I had a swap due the end of the month, the theme is Valentine's Day, I just LOVE coffee, and what better combination than Valentine's Day and coffee?

 I used the coffee image from Pun fun for this fun (and heavily layered) card.  I really love when I can stamp a focal image on something other that whisper white or very vanilla, so this card was fun to make.  However, I don't like to cut things out, so this card was quite a challenge, especially since I had to make 12 of them!  (Did I tell you I don't like to cut things out???)  So I stamped the coffee cup on creamy caramel in chocolate chip ink and layered it on riding hood red and chocolate chip cardstock.  Then I stamped it again on riding hood red and pink pirouette to cut out the cup and the hearts.  After attaching the cup and hearts, I used the scallop edge punch on the strip of riding hood red and added riding hood red striped ribbon to the wide stripe of creamy caramel.  Finally I layered all of it on pink pirouette and chocolate chip and stamped the sentiment in chocolate chip.

I think I'll give it to my daughter - she and I love to share a cup of coffee!  Or maybe the baby who still loves coffee and will sneak gulps out of my cup AFTER he has finished his!!!

Winter swap card

This is my fifth holiday season as a demonstrator, and I can tell I have tired of the traditional holiday colors!  I really like the new In Colors, especially kiwi kiss, pink pirouette, and riding hood red.  Actually, riding hood red looks like the red on my fireplace wall, so I need to add it to creamy caramel and chocolate chip like my main floor and see what happens!

So I was contacted by Charlene, who received one of my swaps at convention, and invited to join her swap.  There are 15 of us, so I should have some great ideas coming - they will be mailed out Monday and I cannot wait! 

Anyway, this is my card for the swap.  As I said, I went with a twist on the conventional red/green scheme and came up with this one.  It's actually a CASE (copy and share everything) of a card that I had made at my Open House in August.  I simply swapped out the chocolate chip for more riding hood red and used the Punches Three hostess set with the scallop square punch for my focal point.  I think we'll be making this one for my November holiday card class, but I think we'll use the bold snowflakes jumbo wheel.
